On the 7th and 8th of January, there will be training opportunities at the ADC Theatre using a real live case study. The production team of Take The Fast Train have agreed to allow us to use their show as an opportunity for people to apply skills they may have learnt from previous training sessions during their get-in weekend. The show doesn't open until Friday 13 January so we will be free of some of the usual time pressures encountered during a get-in. The quid pro quo of course is that we will be helping them get ready for their show. Additionally ADC staff will be on hand to provide special training in special skills .

An outline of the various activities that will be taking place is given below. If you are interested in being involved then please get in touch so we know how many people are interested and can structure activities accordingly. Experience is not a pre-requisite so this is a good opportunity to have a go at something you have not done in anger (or with a smile) before.

Please also get in touch if you would be happy to help supervise a particular area.

Saturday 7th January

10am - Grid shift, lighting rig and patch

An opportunity to try your hand at loading counterweights, rigging a lighting bar and/or patching lights.

There is also an opportunity to try your hand at running a grid shift (overseen by someone with experience). This will require a pre-meeting on the evening of Friday 6th in order to do some advance planning. Please do say in advance if you would like to do this.

2pm - Genie training, programming a lighting desk

An opportunity to get your very own ADC Driving Licence! Whilst Genie training is taking place on the stage we will aim to provide an opportunity for people to learn how to program the Ion lighting desk.

5pm - End (unless you want to stay and help with the subsequent focus)

Sunday 8th January

10am - Assembling a 7' platform

Less a training exercise, more the main part of the set get-in. If you are willing to help out with this you would be more than welcome. If there is time and enough pairs of hands on the Saturday we will aim to get some of the decking on stage in readiness.

3pm - Big Bangs and SM training!

The show requires pyros and a blank firing gun. ADC management will train you in how to make life go with a bang!! Additionally for those that wish, there will be training in what to do when the set catches fire as a result (aka Stage Management training)!!

5pm - End

Ultimately we hope to have done all that is necessary to prepare the Fast Train for departure as well as provide club members with new experiences. If you want to come along and help whether as trainee, educator or just general helper, we will be happy to see you. Just to reiterate that knowing in advance what your specific desires are will help us make the day go more smoothly.
